Hello Friends!
Last time I emailed you I let you know that I was launching the Digging the Greats Podcast and the complimentary YouTube channel “Digging the Talks” - the initial plan was to have clips of the video interview on the second channel, with the full interview on the podcast, but I’ve heard from many of you and will now start posting the full video interviews on Digging The Talks as well.
Honestly, I figured no one would want to stare at my face that long, but to each their own! Full convos are now available in both video and audio form (youtube and podcast)
Recent Talks
Speaking of the interviews - my first talk was with Ken Lewis, a producer and musician who’s worked with Kanye, J. Cole, Mariah, Aretha, and SO many more. I’ve since posted two other great talks that you should absolutely check out if you haven’t.
The first is with Lori Lieberman, the original artist behind “Killing Me Softly”. She saw my recent video on the song, one thing led to another, and we had a great talk about her career, that song, and what she’s up to now (performing at Carnegie Hall!)
The next is with LaDerrick Perry - he’s a musician and producer who’s worked with many different artists, and currently plays keys for Ms. Lauryn Hill
It was great talking to LaDerrick about his career, what it’s like playing with someone as legendary as Ms. Hill, and behind the scenes things like how often they rehearse, and how many musicians are in the band (spoiler: the answer to both is a LOT)
Clips from my conversation with LaDerrick appeared in this last week’s video on the main channel, breaking down the classic album “The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill” - I talk about the story behind this album, the musical references that weave together, and how that same energy carries over to Ms. Hill’s performances today.
Besides that, I’ve got a few new videos and interviews coming soon that I’m very excited about, so stay tuned. I hope you’re doing well and I’ll talk to you soon!
Brandon
